A top-tier ESP system will consistently demonstrate a DOP efficiency of 95% to 99% against these challenging 0.3-micron particles.

Factors Influencing Real-World Performance

While laboratory DOP tests provide an excellent benchmark, real-world efficiency can vary based on several factors:

  • Maintenance: ESP filters rely on high-voltage electric fields to charge and collect grease. If the collector plates become heavily coated in grease, the electric field weakens, and efficiency drops significantly. Regular cleaning is mandatory to maintain peak performance.
  • Airflow Velocity: If the exhaust fan pushes air through the ESP too quickly, the particles won't have enough time to be attracted to the plates, reducing capture efficiency.
  • System Design: Proper sizing of the ESP unit to match the kitchen's exhaust volume (CFM or m³/h) and the correct placement of pre-filters are essential for maximizing efficiency.
