Leading brand of electrostatic precipitator for commercial kitchen ventilation.
Drying Times for Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) Cells After Cleaning
I. Natural Air Drying (Most Common Method)
1. Plate-type ESP Cells (Wide plate spacing; less prone to water retention)
Sunny, well-ventilated summer conditions (25–32°C, humidity <60%): 10–12 hours
Room temperature, dry environment (20–25°C): 12–16 hours
Rainy/humid seasons or damp kitchen areas: 20–24 hours
2. Honeycomb/High-density Multi-zone ESP Cells (Deep channels; prone to water retention)
Water tends to accumulate in plate gaps and around ceramic insulators; drying time must be doubled:
Sunny and well-ventilated: 18–24 hours
Humid weather: 24–30 hours
Industry Safety Standard: Ensure a full 24 hours of natural air drying before reinstallation to prevent residual moisture in crevices from causing high-voltage arcing or burnout.
II. Accelerated Drying Methods (For tight schedules or continuous-operation food service facilities)
Low-pressure compressed air purge (≤0.2 MPa)
Blow out residual water from plates, insulators, and crevices first, then air-dry for an additional 4–6 hours until completely dry.
Industrial cold/warm air blowers (Hot air temperature ≤50°C; high temperatures strictly prohibited)
Circulate air across both sides of the ESP cell. Plate-type cells require 4 hours; honeycomb cells require 8 hours. Temperatures exceeding 80°C can melt insulator coatings, causing permanent electrical leakage.
Cold air blower: Target insulators for drying; this can cut drying time in half.
III. Two Reliable Criteria for Confirming Complete Dryness (Visual inspection alone is inaccurate)
Visual inspection: No water droplets, mist, or water stains on plate gaps, ceramic insulator pillars, or terminal blocks.
Professional testing (Most reliable method): Use a 2500V megohmmeter to measure insulation resistance between electrodes. A reading above 50 MΩ indicates complete dryness; lower values indicate residual moisture, requiring extended drying time. IV. Critical Safety Warning
If the electrode unit is reinstalled while only the surface is dry—leaving hidden moisture trapped in internal crevices—applying power will trigger continuous crackling and arcing. This can lead to frequent tripping, burnout of high-voltage power supply components, and, in severe cases, even grease fires.
Extend the drying time when working in humid environments. Ensure that insulators are thoroughly dry, as these components are most prone to moisture accumulation and electrical leakage.
